Own: The Racer Back Dress by Zara

Yesterday as I was waiting for dinner at Food Gallery 32 in K-Town, I saw an adorable girl walk in, seemingly straight from work.  I actually did a double-take because I never look at office wear and think that it's cute (well, "never" is probably not true.  Let's just say, "rarely").  She was wearing this sleek, cobalt dress with a simple, black blazer and some black, closed-toed wedge heels.  I'm not usually one for "business wear," but she looked so chic.

After I got my food I sat down and saw the girl sitting a couple tables down and she had taken off her blazer.

WAIT.  WAIT.

I thought.  I knew that cobalt dress.  I have seen it before...Where...??

ZARA.

How did I know?  Because I own this dress:

I recognized the fit and realized that, yes, this dress is awesome whether it's in a solid color or a pattern.  I love this dress.  It's body-con fit is forgiving because of the slightly stiffer cotton material, but it's just stretchy enough that it still hugs curves.  The prices is really right at $80 and it now comes in the lovely blue that I spotted last night and a hot red.

Anyway, pick it up.  GO!

Obsess: Kozyndan

I must take a moment today and celebrate myself- I have officially completed my second move ever in NYC. Woohoo!

Anyway, back to the matter at hand. KOZYNDAN. I'm don't really know a lot about art, but I certainly know when I like something, fancy artist or not. Recently, my manpiece (yeah I have one of those) sent me a link to this print:

They're bunnies as cherry blossoms!

They're adorable!  Normally I would have no hesitation at all buying something so amazingly bunny (I have a strange obsession with this animal), but after just having paid all this money to move, I just couldn't pull the trigger on this one at $500.  I am, however, still TOTALLY OBSESSED with it.

I cruised around their site a little more and Kozyndan are husband and wife (Kozy and Dan) doing this art together.  A lot of the prints available on their site focus on the water (waves, in particular) and animals.  Today, I saw another print that I REALLY, REALLLLLY WANTED.

It's SO AWESOME.  HAVE I USED ENOUGH CAPS?  I DON'T THINK SO.

Ok, now I'm done.  This one is just slightly more affordable at $300.  For wonderful art, those are definitely reasonable prices.  For now, I'll just have to sit in my new apartment and obsess via the interwebs.

Ogle: If I had a Million Dollars!

Come to think of it though, what is a million dollars today?

That phrase is meant to inspire people to get to that economic freedom where their disposable income seems infinite, but this day in age, a million dollars seems like diddly - I mean when you think about buying a huge house and an awesome car- that right there would be your cool million gone.

Anyway, let's just assume that by "million," I mean, crazy-cowabunga-oodles-and-oodles-of-millions-of-bucks (wow, my most proper English to date) and get to what we're really here to do- stare in awe at all the things we could buy if we had that crazy-cowabunga-oodles-and-oodles-of-millions-of-bucks.  Let's get started.

I've had bags on the brain for the last 3 weeks and it's driving me nuts (don't even ask me about the Smythson bag that I lost out on...I'll save that for a Regret post).  If I had all those bucks though, I would keep them in this lovely and classic Delvaux bag.  This Belgian brand has been around for a long time, but doesn't seem to get much exposure in the US- such a shame.  I think that the Givry bag, pictured here, is SO PRETTY.  Remember, we're uber-millionaires so this $2,150 bag would be pennies in the bucket.  Want to see more about Delvaux?  Click here.

Every day clothes?  I would probably keep it pretty simple, in my heart I really love unique design and soft fabrics.  I would probably live a lot of my days in James Perse because it's so lovely and soft.  Especially simple dresses like this asymmetrical shoulder one.  This one is actually very Ownable today without my millions at $95.

But if I wanted to get a little fancy, this Chalayan dress is amazing.  I love the color and the contrasting fabrics.  While the cut is simple, the construction of the dress makes it really unique.  Fab and just over $1,100.  Ha.
I've never really been big on wearing pants (I'd usually pick a skirt or a dress), but Miu Miu's fall stuff looks amazing.  Look at these pants.  They're simple and sleek (and $835).

Probably awesome paired with a shirt like this:
Adorable cashmere from Chinti and Parker for $550.

I LOVE Miu Miu accessories.  I think they're so fun and whimsical.  These earrings would be awesome with that Chalayan dress up there.  Bling bling it up for $235.

Finally, SHOES.  OH SHOES.  How the world of footwear would be my oyster if I had unlimited monies to spend on you.  Well, without a doubt, my epicly large walk in closet would be filled with Repetto flats at around $230 a pop.  Explore your own favorites here

Sky high heels?  Here are the ones from my dreams.  They're by Gianvito Rossi and they're so beautiful.  And $895.

Alright!  So let's settle up here...all things considered, this would only be $6,605 out of my millions!  So DOABLE, right??!....haha...It's nice to play make belief sometimes.  Ogle away, my friends.

Ogle or Obsess or Own? The Barneys Sale

So the Barneys Warehouse sale is online this year.  It's been going now for probably a week and I haven't found the time, to wade through it- UNTIL NOW.

In the past years when it's been in NYC, I've actually avoided it because by the time I make it there, it's graveyard of things that were once beautiful.  It's sad to see Lanvin and Miu Miu delectables that have been just torn to bits because people are pawing all over them.

HOWEVER, an online sale is a whole different ballgame!  Now, I can peruse from the comfort of my desk chair and I assume that whatever I order will arrive in tip-top shape.  SO, there are some goodies among the garbage.  Let me show you the way.

THESE.  THESE.  THESE.  How lovely!  I loved these YSLs (soon to just be Saint Laurent) when I saw them in mint green on the runway.  Oh to Own them...a dream.

Looking for a nice cashmere sweater to live in this winter?  The Row has one that looks amazingly comfy.  At an Obsession comfortable range of $390.

Summer-to-fall transition piece perfection is this DVF dress.  Throw a blazer of this and it becomes a power outfit.  *boom*  At $109 this is a very Ownable steal.

If power dressing isn't your thing, then how about this Zero + Maria Cornejo dress?  I am oddly drawn to it and really want to get it for $170.

To stay in the vibe of the summer or start your spring wardrobe for next year, I think this Jonathan Simkhai dress is adorable.  A little pricey still have $200+ but very cute..Obsessing as we speak (or as you read, or whatever).

New skirt alert!  Get this one by 10 Crosby.  Paired with a classic white button up and some red lips and you're good to go. Own it for less than $120.

So much shopping!  My eyes are bugging out right now.  SO many things that I want.  Eeee!  Happy Tuesday.

Own! New House, New Stuff!

The house scramble has started!  Every summer in the city hundreds of people race from apartment building to apartment building in search of their next home.  Their hopes and dreams are always that it's going to be a cute place with exposed brick, nice natural light, new appliances and has walk in closets.

The reality is that you usually get none of that.  Nice natural light if you're lucky!

Well I was lucky enough to have found an apartment four years ago that had fit my bill.  The apartment has been a lovely place to live, but it's a two bedroom and now my roommate is moving out to move in with her boyfriend (MY GOD, who isn't doing this today?  I feel like everyone is moving in with their boyfriends).  That sent me on a search for an apartment where, for the first time, I would live ALONE.

That's right.  New chapter in life!  That means time to buy NEW STUFF!  Not clothes or shoes (not to say that I won't still buy those things), but new stuff to accessorize my new house.  I use the term "house" loosely here.  My new house will probably be less than 500 sq ft.

Anyway, I've been obsessing over home goods for the last 2 weeks as I imagine what I could turn my new apartment into.  An old french style boudoir?  A fluffy white sanctuary?  A girly bibliotheque-esque cave?!  Pink Palace?!  Wait no.  That's going too far.

Being in between so many styles, here are just a few pieces that I've really just fallen in love with.  Maybe I don't have to fashion my home into any one style category.  I guess they would call that eclectic?  Wait, wait...and how do I what I want and make it affordable??  Let's see what's out there, shall we?

I love this french style chair.  I could totally see it in my apt with a fluffy robe draped over it.

One thing that I've always wanted to avoid is decorating with too much animal stuff.  There will probably be a time in my life when my kitchen will be filled with cow and chicken tchotchkes, but not today! That being said, I still love bunnies and I really live this Bunny wall hook.

Over the years, I've wound up with quite a collection of books.  Now, I need a practical way to display them.  In a small apartment though, I'm going to need a bookshelf to do double duty.  I think this one is perfect!  side table AND books.  DONE.

There will probably be more furniture that I'll need to buy, but I guess to need to make sure I find the right apartment first!  Meanwhile, I'll just conveniently order all these things.  Yay.  More to come...
