Own: Friday Faves

It's been a few weeks, but I haven't stopped online window shopping!  I hate when life gets in the way of sharing my shopping finds with you.

Anyway!  I'm exactly a month out from my upcoming trip to Japan so I've really got to stop shopping in the US so I can blow all my money in Japan which means that my window shopping is at an all time high.  Here are my faves this week!

At a recent dinner at Vinegar Hill House, Brooklyn, a super chic girl walked in carrying this very bag:

I loved it so much that I came home and immediately started to search for round leather bags with tassels.  It took me a while but I finally found it on none other than Zara.com!  And better yet- the bag is only $40.  Give it a nice home!

Another favorite that I have to tell you about is an adorable site called adornmonde.com that will fulfill all your dainty jewelry needs, but at a fraction of the cost since they are a fashion jewelry site.  Here's a pair of earrings that I can't stop thinking about:

So cute and pretty for just $42.  If it's your first time shopping on the site, they will also give you 25% off.

Last but not least, while I know it's totally not the season, I saw this bikini a while ago and am still totally in love with it.  While I won't be going anywhere soon where I can rock said bikini (nor am I in bikini shape) I thought I would but it out there for you.

I love the embellishment on it.  It's definitely not the most practical suit if you want to swim in it and the sequins are probably not going to stay on it forever...but hey, YOLO.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend!

Obsess: Simple Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Bikinis

SUMMER IS HERE.  FINALLY!

If you've read some of my past posts, you know that I'm a lingerie addict and the next best thing to buying new lingerie is buying a new bikini.  I mean they're almost the same thing, right?

There have been a lot of new styles of bikinis this season and some of them have me scratching my head about what to do with those weird tan lines after a day on the beach.  A few suits out there will solve that problem!  They are so skimpy that you'll have just enough of a tan line to prove to people that you've actually tanned, but small enough that you could hide them if you wanted to.

Here are the ones I'm OBSESSED with right now.  It's unfortunately become a theme with the cool swimsuit brands to charge more money for less fabric...so I'm going to have to think long and hard about which one I'm going to get given the investment.  These bikinis are pretty simple in style though, so I have a feeling they'll be in style for a long time (read: maybe worth the investment?!?).

I've been a fan of Minimale Animale from the get-go and they continue to come out with more risqué suits every season.  I love this super simple bikini.  Here's the top and bottom.

Minimale Animale

If you're looking for something a little sportier, here's one from the brand Kovey.  I do still love how simple the suit is.  With a sportier top, you could choose a skimpier bottom.

I love the tops with the cut outs.  Blue Life has a really cute white suit that I can't stop thinking about. Here's the top and bottom.

Want something more affordable?  Victoria's Secret, as always, has you covered.  Or in this case, exposed. Haha.  Sorry.  Here's my pick.  I like the sexiness that the shimmery fabric adds.

Victoria's Secret

Embrace your body and go mini with your bikini!  While I don't have an ideal "bikini body" I'm certainly going to try to leave that standard behind this beach season and rock what I have with confidence.  There are SO MANY types of swimsuits out there.  Take your time and find one that you feel great in.  Happy shopping!

Own! Triangl Swimwear

So, it's been a really long time since I posted and honestly, it's not even because I've been busy.  It's more because it's been a while since I've been inspired by fashion.  I'm not trying to sound snobby or anything, but I feel like things maybe haven't really suited my taste lately.  Not sure what it was, but I've finally been smitten again so here I am, writing to you!

Instagram is really an amazing place to get inspired by fashion.  People are so creative and you can find interesting things from all over the world.  That's how I discovered the brand, Triangl.  Their designs are so simple, but the colors are so awesome.

Why are they an "Own?"  Well, not only do I love EVERY single design they have, but they are also only $79-89.  Not per piece- for the whole bikini!  Top and bottom!  Yes!

Here are the ones that I bought:

The really cool thing about these bikinis is that they are made from neoprene (what wet suits are made from) and the material provides great padding/support.  They also allow you to order a different size top and bottom so that you can really get your size right, since not all women are the same size on top as they are on the bottom.

I toiled and toiled and toiled over what size to order, but I have to say that they are pretty true to size.  They aren't sold in any stores anywhere (though they are an Autralia-based brand), but their live chat on their site was incredibly helpful!  They were also EXTREMELY nice.  I was really impressed by their customer service.  Also, for something that was shipped half way across the world, I received my order in LESS THAN A WEEK.  That's right.  AMAZING.

I'm typically a US size 2 and I was a small across the board.  The bikinis fit great!  If you want to see a picture of me in it, follow me on Instagram: OgleObsessOwn

Now all I have to do is wait for warm weather, which sounds easy, but if you live in NYC, you know that I've got a long time to wait.  *Le sigh*

Have a great weekend!

Ogled and Obsessed Dupes: Sunny Vaca Edition

So, I haven't left NYC since Thanksgiving and I've started to get restless.  Sometimes being in the city too long leaves you feeling almost like you're stuck here.  I'm officially feeling stuck.  Want to know what I did to remedy that?

I booked a vacation, DUH.

A good friend of mine hails from Nicaragua and we'll be going with her to visit her hometown and Corn Island (both Little and Big)!  I couldn't be more excited but, oh me, oh my, I haven't seriously thought about warm weather clothes and bikinis in a while.  Time to dust off that part of style brain and see what's been brewing!

Well, the internets never fail to inspire, so, there are tons of things to Ogle and Obsess over!  Here's what I'm looking for before I take off to the beautiful beaches both the Ogle and Obsess versions plus the versions that common people like me can Own:

- a floaty, white dress - clearly!  this is a beach must!  nothing looks better with rosy cheeks, a fresh tan and some chunky turquoise jewelry
Ogle/Obsess Version : Pencey Dress

Own Version: Daughters of the Revolution Dress.  This is so close!  Sold out here at Revolve, but I think I could find this somewhere else....

- a wide rimmed sun hat - got to keep that skin protected!
Ogle/Obsess Version: Eugenia Kim Hat
Own Version: J.Crew Hat - not quite an exact dupe, but Eugenia Kim hats are so expensive and unique that it's hard to find a match!

- a funky bikini - from pics of my friend and her friends in Nicaragua, those latin girls have sick bodies and show them off with awesome bikinis!  Not to be outdone, I need to first get in shape, then rock the amazingly chic beachwear
Ogle/Obsess Version: Agent Provocateur Bikini

Own Version: Good ole, trusty J. Crew always has a great selection of basic and fancier bikinis

- convertible beach cover-up - I want to go from beach going to restaurant dining effortlessly
Ogle/Obsess Version: Butter By Nadia Wrap Dress

Own: Almost an EXACT dupe! Ravon Wrap Dress

- statement earring bling - I'm going bare neck with my super long hair so I want to keep it classy with some serious ear baubles
Ogle/Obsess Version: Jose & Maria danglies

I hope this inspires some of you to take some time for yourself and find a haven (like a sunny beach!) to relax/spring break/party/dance for a while.  If not, I'll be sure to post a lot of pics when I go on vaca so you live vicariously through me (I know it's not the same, but hey, it's better than nothing)!
