About Getting Married...

My wedding wasn't at all what I had originally imagined.  When I started on Pinterest, so many of my pins were gold glitter this, rainbow colored that, but when it came to making decisions about what I really wanted, I realized that all my choices were based on pure emotions and questions that I kept asking myself:

How did this make me feel?

How did it make my mom feel??

How would it make my fiancĂ© feel???  What will my friends think?!  Does it really represent us and our love?!?

Much of what I write about on Ogle Obsess Own are things that I see in passing- things I love on impulse.  It doesn't take a lot of pondering over (well unless it's a handbag that's an Ogle that I really want to make an Own...) because it's not going to be something that will be in photos for the rest of my life.  It's just stuff that I like, or in some cases, really like.  I don't care if other people judge me on those things.  I have no tie to them.  Sure, I like them, but I'll probably like something else tomorrow.  Ogle, Obsess, Own is about what I like right now.

For a wedding though, it's the opposite.  Every choice that you make is carefully documented by photographers (and you pay them good money to document it).  Every choice made for a wedding will say something to you for years to your friends, family, new neighbors, your kids...it's daunting, really.  The pressure!

So, before I go into the dress, the shoes, the details, and whatever else you might want to know about my wedding, I wanted to let you know how much care and thought I put into making those choices.  Stay tuned for all the nitty gritty!

Birthday Week: Day 2 Obsess, Jenni Kayne Orsay Flats

I had never heard of Jenni Kayne until Pinterest, and thank goodness for Pinterest!  I was cruising around one day and found a beautiful monochormatic shorts suit and had to go down the rabbit hole.  I clicked through the images until I found the image's source which was the Jenni Kayne site (Which has e-commerce!  Yay!).

It was then that I found these awesome shoes, the Orsay Flat:

They are such a great shape with a slightly pointed toe.  It's just something that's a little different from the usual flat.  They come in lots of joyful spring colors, too.

My favorites are the Chambray and the Nude ones.  It's very hard to choose favorites, but sometimes it has to be done.  LOVE THESE.  AH.

These would also make great Summer to Fall transition shoes!  So birthday dream-worthy...

Obsesssss: Alison Cutlan

Pinterest is a funny thing sometimes.

Sometimes it leads you down a rabbit hole on tumblr, where click after click after click after click, you still can't find the source of what you're looking for.  Unless you have some savvy pinning friends, forget finding the true source of an image.

I remember when I first pinned this image, bracelets by Alison Cutlan:

I clicked through and was taken to The Henrik Vibskov Boutique where the bracelets were no where in sight.  I did Googled Ms. Cutlan and came up with a site that was a work in progress, but no information on where or how to find these adorable bracelets.

I was at a loss.  I gave up.  I momentarily hated Pinterest for leading me on and making me covet a bracelet so much, but not giving me a way to find it.  In retrospect, I was really angry at the interwebs for not making the bracelets easier to find  (I shook my fist at Google), but I moved on.

THEN my web life and my real life joined and magic happened.  This weekend, while strolling around SoHo this weekend,  I came upon the Henrik Vibskov store- I didn't even know that this store existed in NY!  What a nice surprise!  I walked in.  I can't say that I was really hopeful about finding the Alison Cutlan designs, but I looked.  I glanced into the accessories display case and saw nothing.  Slightly disappointed, I started to walk towards the back of the store.  Suddenly, next to the register, THERE THEY WERE.

"They just came in!" said the very friendly sales girl.  She was just as excited to tell me about them as I was to see them.  They were amazing in person! While they appear to be fabric, they are actually a mesh wire on the outside that appear to be spray painted to give them a gradient colored effect.  Inside the mesh are small glass beads that make the bracelet seems almost glittery when they catch the light just right.  In short, I LOVE THEM.

Luckily, the internet is fast and constantly growing world and now it's actually possible to find these bracelets (AND necklaces!)

Here are some places where you can pick them up:
Asos (of course.  They have everything)
Henrik Vibskov Boutique
FarFetch

While I love these bracelets, I have graduated to wanting to pay more than $50 for accessories...I've made some (FEW) exceptions, but I'm going to marinate on these.  If I see them again, I might just have to get one.  They would be awesome for layering in with other bracelets.  I particularly love this one:

Oh, and Pinterest and I made up. We're still in love and doing well.  Thank you for your concern.

Fashion Week Olges: Pinterest

Fashion Week is so chocked full of amazing fashions.  While I respect all fashions out there (you see some weird stuff in NY, but hey, props if those people are willing to strut it out in public), there are still times when I see collections on the runway and only like one or two pieces.  Since I don't like the whole collection, I usually won't write a blog post about it, but I don't want those Ogles to go wasted!  Find all the one-off Ogle-able Runway looks here-  Follow me on Pinterest!

Want a sneak peek?  Here are some of the amazing things in there:
